![]() what's the real scoop with boilers that have such similar efficiency ratings?Īnd has Burnham really worked out the V8 casting issue?īoth units are good quality, but the Buderus is a 3-pass boiler, and 3-pass boilers are usually a little more efficient than the pin-style boilers like the V8 you mentioned. Is it advertising hype that the multpass and System 2000 design are really significantly superior despite the similar AFUE ratings. Nevertheless, concern exists for the history of sections cracking/leaking although we've been told from the salesman that issue has been addressed. ![]() I prefer simple and proven and am favoring the Burnham, and not having to line the chimney for some 3K also weighs in. And not needing the silent operation or the amazing supply of hot domestic water it provides, we're passing on that one. It's rating varies depending on who's promoting it - seems the company has their own way of calculating efficiency vs the AFUE ratings and that might have merit. The System 2000 was also recommended, but I'm shying away from something with such proprietary controls. To me, that 1% difference in efficiency seems insignificant, yet I'm told the Buderus will burn much less fuel. The Burnham is AFUE rated 85% efficient, the Buderus is 86%. Choosing between a Burnham V8 H3 and a Buderus G115WS/3 for a hot water baseboard heating system.
